The 16th Annual Global Partners in Education Conference will be hosted by East Carolina University (ECU) in Greenville, NC, USA from May 22 – 24, 2023. This will be our first in-person conference in three years. We invite instructors, technical support personnel, students, and administrators from GPE partner institutions around the world to join us at ECU for this important knowledge sharing and networking event. Some sessions will be streamed and recorded for those who cannot attend in person. Aligning with GPE’s mission to prepare students with the skills, knowledge, and adaptability to thrive in an interconnected world, the theme of this year’s conference is “Intercultural Communication: Preparing Students for an Interconnected World.” Intercultural communication is essential for student success. Regardless of whether they stay in their hometown after graduation, move to a bigger city, or choose to live abroad, it is inevitable that students in today’s world will work, live, and play with culturally diverse others. Good intercultural communication is also extraordinarily important for those working in GPE programming. It has always been our philosophy that the majority of challenges faced in our programming can be resolved with good communication. Throughout the conference we will explore how to build intercultural communication competency both amongst ourselves and our students. It will also be an opportunity to discuss ways to improve existing programming and develop/introduce ideas for new programming and initiatives. Participants will be given the opportunity to share their research and best practices and will have ample time to network with fellow participants to help further international efforts on their home campuses.
