    2nd Conference on Translation and Interpreting: Translation as (inter)cultural mediation

    Madrid, Spain

    This Second International Conference on Translation and Interpreting at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos will be held at the university campus in Aranjuez (Madrid). We expect proposals focused on the following themes (non-exhaustive list):

    • Translation as cultural mediation and a cultural tool in literature and films
    • Components of cultural competence in interpreters and translators
    • Acculturation as an impediment or an aid to mediation
    • Intercultural communication, translation and interpreting in public services
    • Intercultural communication, translation and culture in the business world
    • Accessibility through translation and interpreting (audio description, subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing [SDH] or sign language)
    • Cultural aspects in specialised translation
    • Machine translation and culture
