Intermedia is a series of annual conferences on audiovisual translation held at universities across Poland and coordinated by members of Intermedia: AVT Research Group.  See the conference website for more details.

The conference draws on the success of four TTI conferences, held in April 2008 and 2009, October 2011 and November 2014 where it was unanimously decided that meetings devoted to theoretical and practical aspects of translator training, translation didactics and translation curricula are a necessity.

The topics of the conference include, but are not limited to, the following:

The conference is concerned with the problem of translation in general, both with literary and professional translation. The title suggests a wide perspective of the translation horizon which allows to create a communication platform for theorists and practitioners of specific types of translation. The conference will be held in English, German and Polish language in a plenary session and in sections (literary studies, linguistics, specialized languages).
Die Konferenz richtet sich an alle Interessierten am Problem der allgemeinen, literarischen und Fachübersetzung. Der Titel der Konferenz verweist auf eine universelle Auffassung des Problems der Übersetzung, was die Erschaffung einer Plattform für die Verständigung und Erfahrungsaustausch sowohl für die Theoretiker, als auch für die Praktiker der Übersetzungswissenschaft ermöglicht. The 1st CTER Congress will focus on a broad spectrum of issues pertaining to translation pedagogy, including those which relate to the educational stakeholders, teaching content and methodology involved in the process of translator education. Therefore, we invite specialists from the field of translation pedagogy and professional translators to participate in the event. We sincerely hope that the Congress will create an opportunity to examine the current state of affairs in the field, both on a theoretical and practical plane, reflect on the findings and share inspirations with a view to shaping the path of future development for translation pedagogy, along with effective classroom solutions which could facilitate the process of translator training.

The conference will comprise a number of plenary lectures by renowned scholars, panel discussions and paper presentations.

Presentations: The standard length for presentations will be 30 minutes (20 minutes for presentation plus 10 minutes for discussion).

Panel discussions: 90 minutes

The languages of the conference are English and Polish.

Conference fee

The conference fee is 450 PLN (140 EUR) and covers materials and coffee breaks. An extra fee of 120 PLN (40 EUR) will be charged for those participants who wish to attend the closing banquet.

NB: Travel and accommodation costs are to be covered individually by each conference participant. Information on recommended hotels will be available on the conference website.

Teoria tłumaczenia czy teorie tłumaczeń?

która odbędzie się w dniach 20-21 listopada 2015 w Warszawie.

Tłumaczenie jest jedną z najbardziej dynamicznie rozwijających się form działalności ludzkiej. Tłumaczymy literaturę piękną i naukową, filmy, gry komputerowe, strony internetowe, dokumenty prawne, specyfikacje techniczne itd. Czy te różne rodzaje tłumaczenia mają jakiś wspólny mianownik? Czy istnieją problemy wspólne dla różnych typów tłumaczeń?

Na kolejną konferencję z cyklu Imago mundi zapraszamy tłumaczy i przekładoznawców zajmujących się różnymi formami tłumaczeń i interesujących się różnymi zagadnieniami przekładoznawczymi. Chcemy wspólnie zastanowić się, czy może istnieć jedna teoria tłumaczenia, czy też każdy rodzaj tłumaczeń potrzebuje innych założeń teoretycznych.

Swój udział w sesji plenarnej potwierdzili m.in. prof. Roman Lewicki (UMCS) oraz prof. Jerzy Brzozowski (UJ).

W trakcie konferencji przewidziana jest ponadto dyskusja panelowa, która będzie poświęcona głównemu tematowi – wezmą w niej udział tłumacze praktycy, zarówno literatury pięknej, jak i tekstów specjalistycznych.

Językiem roboczym konferencji będzie język polski, choć w przypadku zainteresowania uczestników z ośrodków zagranicznych jesteśmy w stanie zapewnić tłumaczenie wystąpienia w języku angielskim, francuskim, hiszpańskim, niemieckim, rosyjskim.

Czas trwania wystąpienia:

• referat – 20 minut,
• komunikat – 10 minut.
